AICD Screen

The AICD water control screen is an innovative tool designed for the water control of well completion. On the basis of the high quality screen pipe with support, the base pipe without drilling is used to make the formation fluid flow through the AICD water control module and enter the wellbore after being filtered by the screen. The water control module has the function of self-adaptive adjustment, which produces different additional resistance to the flow with different water content. When the oil flows through the water control module, the resistance is small, but when the water passes through, the resistance is larger, and the maximum pressure difference can reach more than 10 times. Therefore, under the premise of reasonable segmentation, AICD water control screen pipe can effectively limit the production of high water cut section, but the production of high oil content section is not affected. Thus, the fluid production profile of horizontal well is balanced and the economic benefit of oil well is improved. The AICD water control module consists of a channel selector, current limiter and hole, made of high-strength cemented carbide and free of moving and elastic parts, reducing the risk of wear. The experimental results show that the AICD water control screen tube is suitable for viscosity range of 5cP–500+cP.
